Knabstrupper
Also Known As: Knabstrup
Closely related to the Frederiksborg, the Knabstrupper breed was founded in 1812 and features both Warmblood and Baroque type lines. The breed is almost exclusively spotted (leopard complex), though some solid coloured horses (typically of Baroque type) do occur. Warmblood type Knabstruppers can be crossed with Frederiksborg and Danish Warmblood stock, as well as approved Thoroughbred and other European Warmblood stock, and will be considered Knabstrupper if the breeder desires (though it is recommended that resulting solid coloured foals register with the other parent's registry). Knabstruppers are a very versatile breed, used for all sorts of ridden and driven disciplines, though they are more notably used in dressage and show jumping.
