Northswedish Horse

Also Known As: North Swedish Horse, Nordsvensk Brukshäst

Another light draft breed from the Scandinavian countries, the Northswedish Horse closely resembles its direct relative, the Dole Gudbrandsdale, and shares its breeding with the Swedish Coldblood Trotter. (Though the trotter is both a type of Northswedish Horse and a breed in its own right, we ask that all Swedish trotters intended for harness racing be registered as Swedish Coldblood Trotters with the ASNC.)

The Northswedish Horse is a small yet strong draft breed with a long stride, overall very agile movement, and an obedient nature. They are genlte and easy to train, and have been used in a variety of areas including farm and forestry work, riding and driving. The trotter type (again, please register those as Swedish Coldblood Trotters) is used in harness racing, but the draft/universal horse type does not race.
